Neufert House - Cologne
Next to the listed residence X1, which Peter Neufert built in 1959, a new, barrier-free house for one person, with a connect joined visitor flat, was to be built. The homogenous cuboid was sculpted from the building volumes through reduction and addition. This results in two tall spaces on the level site, which create volume, allow generous views of the park and draws sunlight into the building interior from several directions. Two incised structures with terraces in front shape the glazed south side and open up to the garden. The metal façade gives the house an independent, unobtrusive presence to house X1. A coordinated energy concept with concrete core activation, air-water heat pump and controlled ventilation of the living space leads to the low-energy house standard.
